2 Year Commitment - Registration & Match Fees

Frankston Basketball endeavours to ensure basketball remains a low cost sport for participants and accessible to people of all ages. Whilst fee increases are unavoidable over time, the Frankston Basketball remains one of the most cost effective basketball associations in Victoria. All fee increases are carefully considered and measured against all tiers of associations across the state.

Frankston Basketball is committed to ensuring transparency with its membership regarding fee increases. Fees for Winter 2016 are impacted often by reasons out of Frankston Basketball’s control much of which is governed by Basketball Victoria. Match and registration fees have been increased based on an increase in Basketball Victoria’s registration and insurance fees in 2016, however Frankston Basketball has committed to a two (2) year price freeze on all match and registration fees which will carry through until the Summer 2017/18 season.

Below are only just some examples of cost pressures facing Frankston Basketball over the next two (2) years:

  • Increase in insurance premiums from Basketball Victoria which he governing body of the sport in the state which is out of Frankston Basketball’s control
  • Traditionally Frankston Basketball has subsidized insurance premiums but increases, in some instances are in proximity of 20 – 25% over the last 2 years
  • Referee rates increase annually which is managed by Victoria Basketball referee Association which is an independent body external to Frankston Basketball and sets state wide rates for referee match payments.
  • Due to competition growth external venues have had to sourced which has been a further cost burden to the association which has been absorbed over the last 3 years.
  • Commencing this year, Frankston Basketball will be entering into a 2 year capital works & refurbishment program in partnership with local, state & federal governments. Whilst all tiers of government will be contributing to these works, Frankston Basketball will be a key financial stakeholder in these works.
  • Frankston Basketball is committed and continues to invest in grass-roots player & coach development programs.
  • Based on member feedback, referee development is also a focus over the coming 12 months with significant funding put towards subsidizing candidates completing beginner & intermediate referee schools which are planned over the next 6 months
